Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the project have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a representative commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
