NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play overseas this weekend.

But it was positive to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.

The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program how Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has stepped up big while recent RB their rusher is a guy they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a team aiming to run first, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable situations.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can truly develop him how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a championship and now passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to hold their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
