Sweden Selection Lineup: Alexander Isak Named Whereas Gyokeres Excluded
Viktor Gyokeres signed with Arsenal from Sporting in July
Arsenal forward the Swedish attacker has been omitted from Graham Potter's first Sweden squad, whereas Reds forward Alexander Isak received a place
Gyokeres is scheduled for additional assessments this week amid concerns of a hamstring injury during the Gunners's English top flight victory at Burnley last weekend
Gyokeres was absent from the Gunners' Champions League victory versus the Czech side earlier this week
Isak Makes Comeback
Isak, who hasn't featured from 22 October because of a groin problem, made the squad for World Cup qualifying matches versus the Swiss team (November 15th) plus Slovenia (18 November)
Other England-based Selections
- Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
- Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga
Both athletes were included in Potter's Premier League players chosen under ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham boss Graham Potter
The New Manager's Role
Potter was appointed by Sweden initially for an interim period on 20 October, under four weeks after his departure from West Ham
Former boss Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job after the national team's setback against Kosovo in mid-October, an outcome that ended direct progression from their World Cup group out of reach
Present Standing
Sweden sit bottom of Group B with only a single point from four matches
Even if they don't manage to claim the runner-up spot, there remains a chance they might participate in the secondary qualification due to of their results during the previous UEFA competition
