Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
